We survived!
Well, the furniture arrived today, and now we’re officially ‘moved in’. The movers didn’t arrive until just before noon, so we had the morning to drink some coffee on the deck, and explore the neighbourhood. It was a bit chilly in the morning, and we didn’t bring our jackets with us, so we drove around looking for some place to have breakfast.
We found Laverne’s Grill no too far down the road, and had a wonderful homemade pancake breakfast. Afterwards we decided to check out Madeira Park and pick up a few Groceries at the IGA.
We met the moving truck at the junction of Hwy 101 and Garden Bay road, and escorted them to our place (much easier than giving directions
). The guys at Ben’s Moving did a great job and were done by 3pm. We spent the next couple of hours unpacking, moving furniture around, breaking down boxes, etc. By 5pm we realized we hadn’t stopped for lunch, and we were both famished, so we took off and hit the restaurant at the Garden Bay Hotel and Marina. Fabulous seafood!
Now we’re back at home, and Shelley continues to unpack, while I play around on my computer.
We plan on finishing the day off with a nice glass of wine on our deck, or maybe we’ll take a walk down on the dock.
We’re both exhausted after a busy day, but we feel incredibly blessed to be able to enjoy this new home of ours. I’m sure there will come a day when I don’t really notice the incredible beauty of this place every day (like we didn’t notice the spectacular view of Mt Baker from our old home every day), but for now we’ll enjoy it and thank God for blessing us in this way.

July 17th, 2008 at 10:00 amHey… I thought of you guys Tues afternoon, and then Wed morning… was going to phone you around 9:30 and make you jealous of ME sitting on MY deck in the sun having a cup of coffee, but thought you’d be in the midst of movers unpacking, etc. by then and found it a bit cruel to do that to you… HA, as it turns out, you were probably doing the same thing as I! Glad you were able to enjoy a quiet morning. ‘Tis indeed a blessing with a view like that!! Can’t wait to share that coffee with you in the morning – oh and keep a bottle chilled for me for those miraculous evening sunsets!!!
